For some reason I was little hesitant to pick this book up. Beth Hoffman’s characters shared such wonderful lessons and advice that I felt was worth noting and reviewing at a later day–so much so that I put a mini post-it by each extraordinary quote.

Her aunt and her aunt’s friends are stereotypes of what people think of wealthy Southerners. If you’re looking for something sweet and fun and you’re less critical of light fiction than I, you will probably find this a wonderful little escape. There she meets an unbelievable cast of characters honeycutg help her discover what life is really about.
That one decesion will change Ceecee Honeycutt’s life forever. Think big Pink Convertible with the cdecee down of course. They lived in a time when life was simpler—there were no computers or cell phones and certainly no reality TV shows!
A minor quibble of mine involves CeeCee’s ability to think philosophically and well beyond her years one moment, but still say something adolescent and sweetly oblivious the next. Cee Cee meets and is taken care of by some wonderful people that I would love to call my friends. She has no friends, or family that visit, her only real attachment is to an elderly neighbor who has loved and watched over her since she was a baby.
The world my aunt created was magic—extraordinary antiques were used and enjoyed instead of protected, her Scottish terriers chased freely across spectacular Oriental rugs, and laughter was the song at the supper table.
Her father, instead of being there for the family, chose to escape and find a new life in another woman. Do you have any words of advice for aspiring novelists? Books written that synopsks can be good, but in this book, there are so many that each one seems diluted, quickly glossed over to get to the next scene.

A full cast of wonderful colourful characters, it depicts the essence of southern hospitality in a heartwarming way. When a woman begins calling their house for him and won’t leave her name, Cecelia knows he is cheating on her mother.
