I hated putting this book down, as I needed to find out what would happen and I found myself desperate not to let go of this book, once I had finished it. Jamie was besotted with Maisie’s mother and even more so with Maisie herself, but Janet had never wanted to be a mother and had no feelings for Jamie or Maisie. Help is at hand however and Eilidh and Jamie continually find fate bringing them together through a strange series of events.

A few events either seemed to unfurl too rapidly to be realistic or I wasn’t given as much detail on events as I would have liked to connect and understand synopsix characters further. It has made me want to avoid saxerdoti anything else by this author. It was well written in a lovely style, a few memorable quotes that I would have to describe as ‘cute’ A few times in the story things seemed to rush past and this would be my biggest criticism of the book. She waited for so long to feel that joy, to feel those little kicks of the new life that is growing inside of her. Enjoyable read, and being set in Scotland, it was nice to hear certain words and phrases used that I haven’t heard since I was very much younger. To her other mother. I’ll be thinking about this for some time. Eilidh Lawson thought that life was finally looking up. Maisie is his world, and with her mother no longe I absolutely loved Watch Over Me, it was a fantastic story of life, love, loss and happiness.
Accents were not spot on for North East Scotland and Southport, but that’s a minor point. Although I didn’t feel any strong emotions for the characters during this read it gave me enough to connect empathise and enjoy reading about their lives.

This was a breathtaking read, it was beautifully written with such an emotional atmosphere, I have a feeling this book will stay in my mind for a long time. But one person wasn’t satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. Two old friends apart since childhood who rekindle their friendship with a little help from the H’s mother, nothing strange in that I hear you say, no there isn’t, apart from the fact that she’s been dead for a few years.
There is magic hiding within the chapters. A gentle, sweet story. I loved Helen McAlpine narration and her ability to use different accents.
